The city of Beaverton is looking for a developer to help build a mixed-use facility on a city-owned lot.

Earlier this month the city acquired a 0.84-acre site located at the corner of Southwest Lombard Avenue and First Street. The city viewed the site as a key element to its downtown redevelopment strategy.

City officials want to use this site for a multi-story, mixed-use development, which would include workforce and mixed-income housing over retail space. They also want to incorporate sustainable building practices into the project and will used reclaimed materials from the demolition of the current structure on the lot in the construction of the new building.

The city paid $1.07 million for the site using general fund dollars that have been stored away for key property acquisitions. The development of the site will likely require a developer to purchase it.
