Seattle-based church buys ‘castle’ building in Southeast Portland

The Mars Hill church announced this week that it has finalized the purchase of a castle-like stone church at Southeast 32^nd Avenue and Taylor Street in Portland.

On the church鈥檚 website, Mars Hill Pastor Tim Smith wrote that the church 鈥減rayed for a home and God gave us a castle.鈥� The .

The growing Seattle-based Mars Hill church has eight branches in Washington and one in New Mexico. It is developing another in Washington and one in California.

The most recent sale price listed for the 1905 church building is $1.25 million. It can hold up to 700 people.
