Commercial real estate veteran Brian Owendoff, who was relieved of his duties as managing director of the Portland offices of CB Richard Ellis earlier this year, has landed a new gig in town.

Local commercial real estate firm announced today that Owendoff has been hired as a senior vice president. Under his new role, Owendoff will lead a new specialty practice that focuses on multifamily, student housing and commercial real estate development consulting and construction management services.

Owendoff has been in Portland since 2007 when he was hired to lead Opus Northwest. When Opus was hit hard by the recession in late 2009, he left for the position at CB Richard Ellis. In his Portland tenure, Owendoff has overseen more than $185 million in new development, including the 332-unit Ladd Tower and 101-unit Park 19 apartment buildings.

Owendoff was let go by CB Richard Ellis after the Northwest Examiner, a community newspaper that covers Northwest Portland, about the paper’s publisher, Allan Classen, as well as local leaders on the websites of various local news sources.

Owendoff said he was excited about the opportunity with Capacity because it’s the first time in his career that he has worked for a 鈥渟maller, more entrepreneurial company.鈥�

Scott Madsen, principal broker with Capacity, added that the company is excited to bring someone of Owendoff’s caliber on board.
