The contractor on the Sellwood Bridge project will host an open house for contractors next Wednesday.
Slayden Construction Group/Sundt Construction is the joint venture team serving as the construction manager/general contractor on the project. The team has set a goal of subcontracting 20 percent of the construction budget to DMWESB firms.
Work on a detour bridge is slated to start in December during an in-water work window, and construction on the new bridge is scheduled to begin in July 2012. The project cost is currently slated at $265 million, and the project is facing a $20 million shortfall. The county is currently in the process of developing a project that can match up with the funds it currently has. The project is approximately 60 percent through the design phase. The Multnomah County Board is expected to approve the 60 percent package in early October.
At the open house, representatives will present information about subcontracting opportunities, schedules for bid applications and prequalification. It will take place Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Marriott Residence Inn, 2115 S.W. River Parkway.
