WaterPlace development in Salem earns LEED platinum rating

WaterPlace, a 42,000-square-foot commercial office and retail development in , this week earned a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design platinum rating, Liberty Ventures, LLC and CB|Two Architects + Construction announced. It is the second privately financed commercial development in Salem to earn ‘s highest rating.

The building relies on natural light and efficient fixtures to reduce its energy consumption, which helps make WaterPlace 24 percent more energy efficient than a building built to standard codes.

Bio-swales for storm-water management and stream restoration efforts will help offset the six-level building’s impact on the surrounding environment, including neighboring Pringle Creek. WaterPlace used 23 percent recycled building materials, including reclaimed wood.
