The combined Sanyo-PV Trackers system will significantly reduce the cost of photovoltaic energy being produced in the U.S., according to CEO and founder of PV Trackers Bill Taylor.

鈥淭he combination of the best panels available in the U.S. and our trackers means 50 percent more energy is produced on a given day,鈥� Taylor said. 鈥淎nd by producing more energy over time, you drive the cost of producing energy down. We’re turning central Oregon into a renewable energy hub. And we’re not only employing engineers, but creating manufacturing jobs throughout Oregon, then exporting the technology to other states.鈥�

A small power plant in Southern Oregon has been testing the system, but the first utility scale system to use the new technology is in Hollister, Calif. San Benito Smart Park LLC will install 7,488 Sanyo solar panels with PV Trackers Dual-Axis Tracking System. The project is expected to connect to the grid soon after construction is finished early in 2012.
