$7.2M affordable housing project planned for Northeast Portland

Fifty new affordable housing units are coming to Northeast Portland.

is developing a five-story building named The Eliot that will have 1,700 square feet of ground-floor retail and community space. is partnering with on the $7.2 million apartment project, which is planned to begin in September.

The proposed site for the project is a vacant lot on Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between Northeast Fargo and Cook streets.

The building, designed by , will have a brick exterior. Its height will be lower on the side facing residential neighbors. Residents will have access to a rooftop deck and interior courtyard.

Walsh project manager Jeff Patton expects construction will last approximately 11 months.
