The Pearl District may soon be getting taller.
An early land-use intake has been filed for an 18- to 24-story apartment building with approximately 200 to 270 units for Northwest 12th Avenue. The project is being developed by Oseran Investment Co., a small local commercial development company.
Both Oseran and , which is designing it, declined to comment on the project.
The building has the potential of being the tallest structure ever constructed in the Pearl; the district’s current tallest, the Metropolitan, is 19 stories tall.
The project’s makeup could be the result of a recent decline in condominium construction and an increase in multi-family development.
This type of project may be a sign of what’s to come for the Pearl. The city is planning on encouraging the development of more high-rise, moderately priced apartments in the central city area over the next 25 years, according to its .
