Portland State University has released the names of eight contractors vying to build a $60 million expansion for the School of Business Administration.

A request for proposals for a general contractor closed last month, and the university later this month will interview finalists from the companies that submitted bids, PSU spokesman John Kirkland said.

The contractors that bid on the project were Skanska USA Building, Howard S. Wright, Hoffman Construction, JE Dunn Construction, Fortis Construction, Anderson Construction in partnership with INLINE Commercial Construction, Mortenson Construction and Lease Crutcher Lewis.

The university soon will announce its selection from 10 architecture firms that bid on the project, but intends to hold off until a contract has been signed, Kirkland said. In October, the Oregon State Board of Higher Education informed project bidders of the intent to award the design contract to SRG Partnership, which has a Portland office, and Stuttgart, Germany-based Behnisch Architekten.

The project, which benefited from an $8 million gift from PSU alumnus Rick Miller and his wife, Erika, calls for adding 95,000 square feet to PSU’s existing 52,000-square-foot business school. The expansion includes more classrooms, offices, study rooms, common areas and auditorium and event space.
