Howard S. Wright, a Balfour Beatty company, will build a 100,000-square-foot Cabela’s retail store set to anchor a Tualatin shopping center, the contractor announced Wednesday.

Balfour Beatty declined to disclose the project cost.

The store will be the second in Oregon and the fifth overall that Howard S. Wright has built for Sidney, Neb.-based Cabela’s Inc. The firm constructed a 58,000-square-foot store in Springfield in 2011, and stores in Union Gap, Wash.; Kalispell, Mont.; and Missoula, Mont., according to Dallas-based Balfour Beatty.

“We are looking forward to building upon an existing solid relationship with Cabela’s,” said Dan Pelissier, vice president for Howard S. Wright’s Oregon division. “There’s a trust and understanding that we’ve developed working together. We couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of delivering a second Cabela’s store location for new and loyal customers in the Portland area.”

of the Tualatin store, which will anchor the 32-acre Nyberg Rivers shopping center, began in December. The anticipated grand opening is this fall, according to the Cabela’s website.

A grocer, a home supplier, a fitness gym and multiple restaurants are expected to follow at the 300,000-square-foot shopping center, in an area across Interstate 5 from the Nyberg Woods shopping center. The new area is being developed by El Segundo, Calif.-based CenterCal Properties LLC.

The exterior of the new Cabela’s store will feature log construction, stonework, wood siding and metal roofing, according to Balfour Beatty. A large glass storefront will allow customers to view much of the interior as they approach the building.

The interior will feature thousands of outdoor products as well as wildlife displays, a man-made mountain with a built-in aquarium, a gun library, a bargain cave, an indoor archery range, a fudge shop and a deli.
