An Ethiopian restaurant on Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard may soon be making way for development.

Works Partnership Architecture recently applied to the Portland Bureau of Development Services for early assistance on a new four-story, mixed-use development proposed for the site of Jarra’s Ethiopian Restaurant, at . The quarter-block property currently contains a small, 4,000-square-foot home that houses the restaurant, as well as a small bar on the ground floor.

Works Partnership Architecture did not return calls regarding the project, but the development team will be presenting details on the development next week to the Buckman Community Association. The meeting is April 17 at 7 p.m., in the county board room of the Multnomah Building, at 501 S.E. Hawthorne Blvd.
