The Oregon Community Foundation is seeking applications for fellowships to support architects’ and designers’ professional development.

A $25,000 Van Evera Bailey Fellowship, for example, could be used to pay for research of professional issues and challenges, sabbaticals to study innovative architectural design, teaching engagements, public education projects, or collaborations between architects and planners, according to an .

The deadline to submit a proposal is Sept. 10 for projects beginning in January 2015. Applications will be reviewed by a committee that includes professional architects, and then the OCF may award one or two $25,000 fellowships.

The fellowship, offered in partnership with the Architecture Foundation of Oregon, is geared to provide time for architects to pursue deeper understanding of ideas that will benefit the profession and the greater community.

Licensed architects with practices in Oregon are encouraged to apply. Joint proposals from multiple applicants, such as an architect and an urban planner, will also be accepted.

The fellowship, established in 2011, is funded through the OCF’s Van Evera and Janet M. Bailey Fund. Van Evera Bailey was a prominent Oregon architect in the mid-20th century.
