Salem-based White Oak Construction recently received from the Salem Contractors Exchange several awards, including its People’s Choice Award for an expedited Oregon Department of Human Services project.

“I was surprised,” White Oak senior project manager Dan Wellert said. “There were some nice projects that were built last year. That one was near and dear to me.”

Design, permitting and construction for the 20,000-square-foot renovation normally would have taken five months, Wellert said, but the team accomplished it in 73 days.

“The time frame and teamwork that it took to make that happen was just seamless,” he said.

Also at last month’s SCE event, Ken Dalke, co-owner of Salem-based Dalke Construction Co., received a Lifetime Achievement Award; he retired in January after 41 years. Dalke Construction received a separate award as well.

“They’ve been in the construction industry for many years and many generations,” said Janai Hill, public relations manager for the SCE, which has members in Oregon and Southwest Washington. “He has been there, he has worked hard and he’s community-oriented.”

Other award winners from Salem were: K&E Excavating, Rich Duncan Construction, Davidson’s Masonry, Salem Wood Products, LP Co., Allsafe, Cascade Plumbing & Heating, Jet Industries and Green Acres Landscape. The SCE also honored Keizer-based Advantage Precast, Stayton-based Santiam Heating & Sheetmetal and Portland-based Dallas Glass.
