Crews with LOI Environmental & Demolition Services are in the process of demolishing a Northeast Glisan Street building in preparation for the construction of guest housing for Providence Portland Medical Center. Designed by ZGF Architects and to be built by Howard S. Wright, the Providence Guest Housing building will contain 30 units to house the family and patients of the hospital’s cancer center. The 2.5-story wood-frame structure will also feature community space including a kitchen, living area, and a reflection room for families who need a peaceful space outside of their living quarters.
Demolition of the 88-year-old concrete structure began last week and is expected to last through early July. Completion of the project is slated for April 2015.
