The Construction Specifications Institute‘s Portland chapter is preparing to host a free architectural scavenger hunt featuring 12 buildings on or near the Portland State University campus.
The third annual hunt is scheduled for July 8, beginning at 5:30 p.m. between PSU‘s Smith Memorial Student Union and Lincoln Hall, event organizer Randy Tessman said. It’s a low-key networking event for design and build industry professionals, he said, and covers buildings within walking distance.
“It’s a lot of fun because you get to find out a little bit about the history of the buildings as well,” he said.
Small teams of no more than six people will be provided with two clues about a building’s exterior feature, the year of construction and a historic tidbit. Participants then use that information to find and name the building and mark its location on a map.
The team with the most correct answers will win the scavenger hunt. Prizes include literature about Portland architectural history and coffee gift cards.
An awards presentation will take place after the scavenger hunt at the Rogue Hall brewery, 1717 S.W. Park Ave.
