Davis, Calif.-based West Yost Associates – a civil and environmental engineering firm with multiple projects under way in Oregon – has acquired Sebastopol, Calif.-based environmental services firm ECON.

The two firms have worked together for years, West Yost Associates marketing manager Dianne Lee said. Because West Yost Associates is larger than ECON, the latter will be able to provide more comprehensive services from design through construction. ECON was attractive to West Yost Associates, Lee said, because it provides specialized services including soil and water testing and watershed management.

“They provide some niche stuff that we are really interested in,” she said.

ECON will retain its name until January 2015, and then go by West Yost Associates.

Currently, West Yost Associates is working on a force main repair and replacement for the Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission in Springfield, wastewater treatment and permitting services for the city of Medford, a water master plan update for the Eugene Water & Electric Board, and water treatment plant intake gravel removal for the city of Corvallis.
