Marion has moved its offices to Clackamas.

The 65-year-old concrete company had been located in since 1961, but currently does about 80 percent of its work in Portland, said Jeff Schmidt, vice president of operations. The move will help the company, which has found substantial multifamily work in Portland in addition to work in the Willamette Valley, be more centrally located close to Interstate 205, Schmidt said.

“We’re really looking at it as kind of a future starting-off point for us,” Schmidt said. “We’ve got great history behind us and with the economy on the uptick we thought it was a good time to expand with this office.”

Some of the projects the company is building include Jefferson Street Flats in the Goose Hollow neighborhood, Embassy Suites in Hillsboro and Garden Avenue Apartments in Eugene.

Marion, which moved into its new offices at 14835 S.E. 82nd Drive in Clackamas this past Friday, will keep its name, which has significant roots for many of its employees, Schmidt said.

“We’re not changing that,” he said. “There’s a lot of history with that. There’s a lot of pride.”
