When it comes to leadership and enthusiasm, Ann Young’s colleagues say she stands out from the crowd, both in the workplace and in the community.

As a project manager for JE Dunn, Young has worked her way up the career ladder, exhibiting communication and technical abilities that have earned the respect and admiration of her co-workers with every step. She joined the firm as an intern working on her bachelor’s degree in construction. Eight years later, as she’s progressed from project engineer to assistant project manager to her current role, she’s had a hand in some of the most noticeable – and news-making – projects in Oregon, from the Wayne L. Morse Federal Courthouse in Eugene to the Collaborative Life Science Building in Portland’s South Waterfront.

Her dedication to JE Dunn extends beyond the firm’s construction projects. In addition to being involved in JE Dunn’s Diversity Strategy Committee, she serves as a team captain for the firm’s local fundraising and team building events. Under her guidance, the firm’s volunteer participation has increased 150 percent for events that include the American

Heart Association’s Heart Walk and an annual walk for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

A member of the Three Affiliated Tribes of Fort Berthold, N.D., Young is a longtime member of the Oregon Native American Chamber. She’s an active member of the Portland chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction and has taken part in Portland-metro Habitat for Humanity projects.
