Case Study Coffee is showing Portland鈥檚 Alberta Arts District that good things really do come in threes.

Owners Wes and Christine Russell have opened the third location of Case Study Coffee at 1422 N.E. Alberta St., next to Tin Shed Garden Caf茅, according to a news release.

The newest location was designed and constructed by the Russells and their team of baristas, according to Marketing Director Emily McIntyre.

鈥淯nless the city required them to hire a contractor, it was all done by Wes and Chris,鈥 she said. 鈥淏oth of them have a very strong interest in design.鈥

All three Case Study locations feature d茅cor inspired by the mid-century architectural movement coming out of Los Angeles, McIntyre said.

鈥淐hris鈥 father was an architect in the Bay Area in the 鈥50s and 鈥60s,鈥 she said. 鈥淭hough each location is different, each ties back to the Case Study movement.鈥

The Russells opened their first coffee shop on Northeast Sandy Boulevard almost seven years ago. The second location, on Southwest 10th Avenue, opened a few years later, McIntyre said.

鈥淧ortland is a very neighborhood-oriented city, and Case Study focuses on meeting the needs of customers in each neighborhood,鈥 she said. 鈥淭he Alberta location is different because it shares a courtyard with Tin Shed. We get a lot of people coming in while they鈥檙e waiting for a table there.鈥
