Katie Coulson has climbed the ladder through the ranks at Skanska USA Building. She actively mentors new engineers, established architects and developers on issues related to both projects and their careers.
Coulson’s climb in the building industry has been steady. She joined Skanska in 1999 as a senior project engineer. She quickly climbed up the construction industry career ladder, became a project manager and then a senior project manager.
During the past 15 years of her career, she has focused a large portion of time working to build substantial relationships with Skanska’s clients in Hillsboro. She has led crews of as many as 70 workers on various projects, and has a recognized knack for skill building. By taking a more inclusive approach, finding the interests and ideas of those she leads,
Coulson is able to develop team solidarity that translates to effectiveness on the job, according to her colleagues.
She was promoted to the position of USA Building Risk Management Property Director for the Northwest in March. In her new role, she leads and coaches Skanska teams throughout Oregon, Washington and Arizona.
Coulson is an accredited professional in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design green building rating program. Her team-building projects include volunteering her team to help at the Beaverton Food Bank. She has served on the boards for Portland Community College and Oregon Tradeswomen Inc.
