Five Canby-owned buildings and up to one city block are available for sale, redevelopment or lease, according to a news release.
The properties for sale are on Holly and Ivy streets, between First and Third avenues. An open house and tours of the properties for potential buyers will take place Nov. 19. Proposals are due by Jan. 9, 2015.
The city is consolidating its offices into a new civic building scheduled for completion in mid-2016. The move will leave the current library, development services and finance buildings vacant. The former police facility is vacant and available.
People interested in redevelopment of the properties are asked to describe one or more of their ideas and present their credentials to the city. Potential buyers could be local businesses looking to buy or lease an existing building, developers interested in buying and refurbishing an existing building or someone interested in purchasing several buildings for demolition and redevelopment.
Canby officials are looking for development teams with proven track records, strong financial resources and project proposals that will contribute to downtown revitalization. The city is prepared to assist with facade improvement, loans, conceptual redevelopment grants and securing financing and permits.
