The Beaverton School District has selected contractors to build a new middle school and a new high school.

Skanska USA Building will construct the $51.6million middle school at the corner of Northwest 118th Avenue and Stone Mountain Lane, and Portland-based Hoffman Construction will build the $109 million high school at South Cooper Mountain – off of Southwest Scholls Ferry Road.

Both construction projects are being funded with money from Measure 34-219, which voters approved in May 2014. The $680 million bond will pay for 27 projects over an eight-year period.

The new middle school, with a 1,100-student capacity, will be used as an elementary school temporarily until existing elementary schools receive upgrades; then the facility will become a permanent middle school.

The high school project will include all athletic fields and associated support facilities. Construction is expected to begin in summer 2015 and finish in time for students to begin attending classes in fall 2017. The high school will have a 2,200-student capacity.
