A large West Coast real estate firm announced Tuesday that it has expanded its reach into Southern California.

Kidder Mathews, with five offices in the Seattle area, one in Portland and three in Northern California, has opened one in San Diego.

The firm hired Mark Read to serve as the managing partner in the San Diego office. Read will oversee three senior brokers 鈥� Bob Willingham, Ron King and Joe McDermott; all have extensive experience in the San Diego real estate marketplace.

The firm employs 450 people in its 10 firms. Kidder Mathews manages 30 million square feet of space, and each year performs $2.9 billion in annual transactions and conducts 1,300 appraisals.
