The Zidell family is moving forward with plans to construct a second mixed-use building in the South Waterfront District.
William Ullman of ZGF Architects‘ Portland office on Feb. 5 applied to the Bureau of Development Services for early assistance with designs for six or seven floors of apartments over a podium with ground-floor retail space. The building also is designed to provide two floors of below-grade parking.
The proposal is for 3201 S.W. Moody Ave., adjacent to and south of ZRZ Realty Company‘s first building constructed as part of the redevelopment of the 33-acre Zidell family property. The Emery, which opened in October 2013, cost about $20 million to build and boasts 118 residential units atop six retail spaces.
Dennis Allen, ZRZ Realty’s director of planning and development, didn’t return a call for comment on the proposed new building by press time.
Both the second building and The Emery are part of Zidell’s master plan, which calls for construction of 27 buildings – a total addition of between 3 million and 3.5 million square feet of office, retail and multifamily space.
