has been honored for its design of the $28 million Performing Arts Building at Reed College in Southeast Portland.

The effort received a merit award as part of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology’s 2015 Architecture Awards.

Opsis worked with New York-based consultant Fisher Dachs Associates to design the 78,000-square-foot building. It opened in fall 2013 and now houses Reed’s theater, dance and music programs.

The USITT Architecture Awards recognize exceptionally designed performance spaces based on creativity, contextual resonance, functional operation, use of new technology and community contribution. An awards presentation was held during the organization’s annual conference late last month.

Another project recognized was the National Theatre of Bahrain in Bahrain. It earned an honor award, the top accolade. A second merit award went to a performing arts building at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London.
