Multnomah County officials this month are seeking public input to help shape improvements for the permitting process for construction work on county-owned roads.

The county’s Road Services Division through April 19 is collecting feedback via an online survey. County officials hope to use survey responses to find ways to make the process faster and cheaper for applicants seeking construction permits before conducting work involving a county road, said Michael Grimmett, the survey facilitator.

In particular, the county is seeking input from representatives of utilities, developers, contractors and property owners who’ve sought construction permits in the past and can comment on ways to improve the process, he said. Currently, permit applications are reviewed by county staffers who determine ways to mitigate the impact the proposed development will have on the public transportation system.

Multnomah County maintains 300 miles of roads in the cities of Fairview, Troutdale and Wood Village as well as unincorporated areas.
