The Port of Portland will host the open house on the future of the Troutdale Airport from 4 to 7 p.m., May 13, at the airport, 999 S.W. Frontage Road in Troutdale. Attendees will have a chance to learn more about efforts to update the airport’s master plan, 鈥淭routdale Airport: Shaping Our Future,鈥� and tour the airfield.

Port officials last spring started work to update the master plan. The plans map out future development, operation and investment in the 278-acre Troutdale Airport over the next 20 years.

A project advisory committee with members who represent community, government and commercial interests in the airport is assisting with the process. The 24-member committee is advising port officials on the airport’s role in relation to other nearby airports, such as Portland International Airport, and future development opportunities.

When the Troutdale Airport was founded in the 1920s, it was a small, private airfield among farms. The airport now supports recreational pilots, two flight schools and aviation repair facilities.
