Oregon Tradeswomen, a nonprofit organization that helps women and girls get into the building trades, will sponsor its 22nd annual May 14-16 at the NECA-IBEW Electrical Training Center, 16021 N.E. Airport Way.

The first day of the fair is for middle school girls and the second day is for high school girls to learn more about the Oregon Tradeswomen organization and how to get trained good-paying construction jobs. The third day of the fair is open to women of all ages, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The career fair is free and no pre-registration is required. Child care will be provided on site, and a free shuttle will be provided from the Gateway neighborhood. L

The largest nontraditional interactive trade fair of its kind, according to Oregon Tradeswomen, the Women in Trades Career Fair aims to increase the overall number of women working in the trades and to help 鈥渇ill the imminent gap in the labor force that will be created with record-levels of upcoming retirements of skilled trades people.鈥

Since 1993, the industry-sponsored and volunteer-run career fair offers dozens of hands-on activities designed to introduce women and girls to the possibility of a future career in the trades.
