The Eugene Water & Electric Board riverfront site still needs a developer since the University of Oregon Foundation dropped out. The EWEB’s five commissioners will discuss the matter at their June 2 meeting, according to the Eugene Register-Guard.

Homer Williams of Portland-based Williams & Dame Development said his firm was passed over last year in favor of the foundation, but that his firm would consider taking over the role of master developer of the utility’s 17 acres near the Willamette River.

Williams said his company will discuss the possibility later this week, but acknowledged the decision is up to the EWEB board.

Last October, EWEB commissioners chose the University of Oregon Foundation over both Williams & Dame Development and the Trammell Crow Co. Based in St. Louis, Mo., Trammell Crow has 16 offices across the country, including Portland.

The University of Oregon Foundation board decided to drop out of the project May 18 and instructed staff to stop pursuing purchase of the EWEB site  because the project had too many financial risks, according to chief investment officer Jay Namyet.
