Lewis & Clark Bank‘s headquarters will gain much-needed space after the company moves into a new building in Oregon City at 15960 Agnes Ave.

Erin Reed of Deacon Corp., general contractor for the project, said the bank will be the sole occupant of the $1.9 million building being constructed near Interstate 205. The site is about a mile from Lewis & Clark’s present 3,000-square-foot headquarters 鈥渃urrently squished on the top floor鈥 of a building on McLoughlin Boulevard, she said.

But there will be plenty of room in the new one-story, 37,251-square-foot building with a modern design.

鈥淭hey will fill 7,000 square feet right away and have room to grow,鈥 Reed said. The building will not house retail banking operations, she said; however, those services will still be offered at the McLoughlin Boulevard location.

LRS Architects of Portland designed the building, and TM Rippey Consulting Engineers, based in Tigard, provided civil engineering. Planning is being done by the Portland office of Australia-based Cardno, an infrastructure and environmental services company. Structural engineering will be done by of Portland, Reed said.

Ground was broken last week, and construction should finish by October.
