More buildings are in the works for the 17.5-acre development in northwest Portland, according to city land use review intake records.

James Santana, vice president of development for Cairn Pacific LLC, said the latest plans for developing the large parcel at Raleigh and Thurman Streets at Northwest 21st Avenue will include a six-story apartment building on Lot 295 with 160 units and 13,000 square feet of retail on the ground floor. Plans for the adjoining lot 294 call for three new buildings 鈥 three stories, eight stories, and 14 stories 鈥 for a total of 226 apartments and 8,000 square feet of retail space at ground level. The apartments will be market-rate and the buildings on both lots will have underground parking for 600 cars, Santana said.

If all goes well, Cairn Pacific hopes to start construction on the two lots in the first quarter of next year.

鈥淲e have submitted for a design review and are going through an completeness check by the city,鈥 Santana said.

Just last month, the Portland Design Commission approved an amendment to the to allow Cairn Pacific to include the underground parking garage. The structure will have an entrance on Northwest Thurman Street.

Cairn Pacific also developed a as part of the development, which Santana said will open Aug. 5. The company also partnered with to renovate a 150,000-square-foot Con-way office building.

At total build-out, the Con-way development will feature between 1,000 and 1,500 residential units with some affordable housing and approximately 500,000 total square feet of retail and office space. A pedestrian mall will go through the Con-way development and connect to the surrounding neighborhood.
