A mixed-use development built near the base of the St. John’s Bridge has received a platinum designation in the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design green building rating system.

, built on a site that previously held an old gas station and restaurant, is the first project built under a HUD 221(d) (4) program to receive the highest rating in the program, according to project developer .

With an eye toward creating a highly sustainable project, the development team sought out as many local and regional materials as possible to reduce the building’s carbon footprint, PHK’s Patrick Kessi said.

The project was designed by Ankrom Moisan Architects. Walsh Construction served as the general contractor.
