The Portland Development Commission will contribute $36.4 million to Multnomah County‘s project to build a new headquarters for the health department.
County commissioners approved preliminary project plans for the $85 million to $95 million facility at its Thursday meeting.
More than 500 health department employees will be consolidated in the planned nine-story, 157,000-square-foot building at Northwest Hoyt Street and Sixth Avenue. They are currently housed in two facilities – the current headquarters in the 10-story McCoy Building at 426 S.W. Stark St. and in leased office space in the Lincoln Building at 421 S.W. Oak St.
The project team includes ZGF Architects and JE Dunn Construction.
