Eugene-based insurance company opens Portland office

Ward Insurance has operated out of Eugene since it was founded in 1955 by Jack Ward. The privately owned and operated insurance company specializes in employee benefits and risk management to the wood products industry. It also has an expertise in construction and manufacturing.

Ward Insurance since 2000 has added divisions for clients from the hospitality, medical, retail and transportation sectors. Over the past 15 years, the company has increased its staff to more than 60 people. Now, it has more than 100 individual accounts for wood products clients.

Because of that growth and a desire to have a presence in the Portland market, Ward Insurance decided to open a new branch in Southwest Portland. The branch opened on Wednesday in a 2,000-square-foot office at 6500 Macadam Ave.
