Real estate broker Matthew Conser of Conser Commercial, a division of Conser Realty and Associates in Albany, has won the 2015 Lease Transaction of the Year Award from the CCIM Institute鈥檚 .

Also, Rene Nelson of Pacwest Real Estate Investments in Eugene won the chapter鈥檚 Sales Transaction of the Year Award, and Beth DuPont of Colliers and Brent McLean of Eugene Industrial Real Estate each won a scholarship award.

Conser received his award for the lease of a former 1970s-era bowling alley to the state of Oregon for Department of Justice offices. The deal was brokered in record time 鈥� eight months from first discussion to occupancy on Nov. 1, including renovations, he said.

鈥淚t was an extreme makeover,鈥� he said. 鈥淚t had 24 lanes, a snack bar, dance floor, thousands of bowling balls and thousands of shoes.鈥�

The renovation transformed the bowling alley into a traditional office with drop ceilings, conference rooms, break rooms, offices and cubicles, he said.

Conser also won the Lease Transaction of the Year Award in 2012 for bringing Lowe鈥檚 Home Improvement to Albany. That process was much longer, he said.

鈥淲e assembled 12 acres and then went to Lowe鈥檚 directly to encourage them to build a center here,鈥� he said. 鈥淭hey like the site, but it took about three and a half years to get permits from the city, wetland agencies and the Oregon Department of Transportation. It was a lengthy process to create jobs.鈥�

Conser said he is delighted with the recent honor.

鈥淚t鈥檚 great to be recognized by your peers,鈥� he said.
