When it comes to supporting organizations and community efforts, Beaverton-based Lanphere Construction & Development believes there’s no place like home.

For several years, the company has been a main sponsor for an annual cleanup day in Beaverton, providing not only shovels and trash cans, but also plenty of helping hands courtesy of approximately 50 employees and their families.

鈥淭he Beaverton cleanup is something our employees look forward to,鈥 said Amy Tang, Lanphere’s marketing communications manager.

The company’s commitment to the Beaverton community isn’t limited to the annual cleanup effort, though. Lanphere is an active participant in city programs as well as a member of the Beaverton Chamber of Commerce.

鈥淭hat’s how we learn about a lot of (the organizations we support),鈥 Tang said.

Lanphere also finds worthwhile organizations and charities by tapping into the passions and interests of its staff.

One of the company’s employees, for example, served on the board of an organization called HomePlate Youth Services, a Hillsboro-based nonprofit that helps homeless youth. That relationship led Lanphere to adopt the group as one of its longstanding charities. In addition to the company serving as a premier sponsor for an annual kickball tournament that raises money for HomePlate, its employees formed a team that competes every year.

鈥淲e hold practices and everything,鈥 Tang said.

Lanphere also supports its employees’ volunteer interests and efforts by providing workers with paid time to volunteer, Tang added.

While Lanphere maintains a full plate when it comes to supporting nonprofit groups and community events, the company is always on the lookout for the next good cause to support, according to Tang. The company often gets approached by organizations looking for support at times when the company has already dedicated its marketing budget for the year, but the door is never completely shut on any worthwhile group.

鈥淲e like to keep our hands in everything,鈥 Tang said. 鈥淲e always tell them they’ll be added to the list for (a future) time.鈥
