To help construction companies fall in line with Oregon’s new paid sick leave law, Associated General Contractors is offering two lawyer-led technical assistance seminars next week.

Most employers in Oregon are affected by the law, which was passed by the Legislature in June 2015 and took effect this month. is paying for employment attorney Leora Coleman-Fire of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt to lead two construction-specific seminars about it.

The first is Jan. 18, from 7:30 to 11 a.m., at the Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center in Redmond. The second is Jan. 19, from 7:30 to 11 a.m., in Room 104 at the Lane Community College Center for Meeting and Learning in Eugene.

Topics will include an overview of the law, determining whether a business is exempt, collective bargaining agreements, administrative challenges, and meeting specific requirements, including tracking hours, accrual and front-loading.
