Metro officials and a group opposing the proposed 600-room Hyatt hotel at the Oregon Convention Center said Friday they have reached a legal settlement.

Gordon Sondland of Aspen Lodging Group had challenged the project, including ‘s plan to issue $60 million in bonds to help pay for construction of the $212 million hotel.

The two sides reached agreement to dismiss ongoing lawsuits and avoid future legal challenges.

The agreement clears the way for the Hyatt Regency, which is slated to begin construction later this year. It will be located north of the Convention Center and is expected to open in late 2018.

Minneapolis-based M.A. Co. is the builder on the project.
