Albina Yard, the first commercial building in the United States to use domestically fabricated cross-laminated timber as a structural element, is on the rise in North Portland. Last week, crews hoisted a series of Oregon-made CLT panels into place to form the building’s third story deck.

The four-story, 16,000-square-foot mixed-use office building is being constructed and developed by Portland-based Reworks Inc, and was designed by LEVER Architecture. Riddle, Ore.-based D.R. Johnson manufactured the panels, which range in size from about 9×20 feet to 10×22 feet. KPFF Consulting Engineers is the project’s structural engineer. The building is slated for completion this summer.
