R&H Construction is seeking donations of time and materials from the local building community to support construction of a wheelchair-friendly home addition for an 8-year-old girl with a progressive condition.
Sofia Urbina has Batten disease 鈥 a rare disorder of the nervous system that is gradually claiming her vision, mobility and memory. A 鈥減rincess project鈥 for her will add a 500-square-foot unit to her family’s Sylvan-Highlands home, and feature one bedroom, one bathroom, a small patio and other improvements.
R&H first connected with the Urbina family when it constructed for Sofia an 鈥渁rt yurt鈥 through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The current project is an independent effort. Construction is scheduled to begin May 1.
R&H is seeking site surveying and the work of an arborist as well as landscaping materials, fencing, rebar, concrete, drop boxes and disposal, insulation supplies and installation, siding, roofing materials, gutter and downspouts, skylights, drywall, millwork and closet shelving.
