Construction has commenced on a significant expansion of the Mary’s Woods continuing care retirement community in Lake Oswego. General contractor began earth work last month on The Village at Mary’s Woods, which will add 380,000 square feet of residences and amenities to the campus. The project, designed by Ankrom Moisan Architects, will consist of six new buildings.

Three apartment buildings will have a combined 144 one- or two-bedroom units, and will each have daylight basements with parking, a post-tensioned concrete deck at grade, and three levels of wood framing. A commons building containing common areas and amenities will be two stories of steel framing over concrete and a daylight basement with parking. A three-story, wood-framed assisted living building will have 48 units, and a small single-story building will house retail tenants and/or a fitness center.

In keeping with recent trends in senior housing development, The Village at Mary’s Woods will be heavy on residential amenities and offer a small-town feel with buildings centered around a town square. Common areas will include a large dining room, a bistro, a bar/lounge, a wellness and fitness center, a performance auditorium, an art studio and gallery, a salon and a spa.

The project is slated for total completion by late spring 2019.
