The Port of Vancouver USA is to provide design and permitting services for replacement of the Terminal 1 dock in Vancouver, Washington.

The demolition and dock replacement project is a major component of a large, multiyear redevelopment program at the Vancouver waterfront. The dock currently supports two buildings that will also come down: the south wing of the former Red Lion Hotel and the original port warehouse building, which houses the Warehouse ’23 restaurant.

This project will involve demolishing the dock and two buildings and designing a replacement dock structure, along with obtaining all required land use and building permits.

The period of performance for completion of the project extends until 2023. A number of buildings featuring hotels, restaurants and residential units are planned for the area near the dock; Tualatin-based Gramor Development is spearheading the effort.

The project will occur in a busy and highly-visible downtown setting, according to the request for qualifications posted Tuesday. As well as engineering and design expertise, the winning firm must provide construction management inspection services.

Bids are due by 5 p.m. on Oct. 11. The port’s board of commissioners is scheduled to vote in November whether to approve the chosen finalist, with contract work beginning the next month.
