Oregon BEST nets nearly $500,000 for startups

Quasi-public clean-tech-boosting nonprofit Oregon BEST was the recipient of a half-million dollar grant that will pay for another round of green-minded entrepreneurs.

The $499,972 award from the U.S. Economic Development Administration is intended to 鈥渟trengthen and broaden鈥� a joint startup accelerator between Oregon BEST and the CleanTech Alliance, a Washington state-based organization.

The grant will allow the so-called Cascadia CleanTech Accelerator to boost emerging business in Washington, as well as strengthen programs such as its 鈥渇unding boot camp,鈥� according to a news release.

Oregon BEST was one of 42 organizations in 28 states that received a total of $17 million in this round of EDA funding. More than 200 entities applied.
