David J. Higgins, a longtime employee with Shannon & Wilson, died last month. He was 42.
As the lead geologist for Shannon & Wilson, Higgins worked on several notable projects, including the Interstate 84 Burnt River realignment, the Columbia River Crossing, the Oregon Zoo‘s Elephant Lands and TriMet‘s MAX orange light-rail line.
Higgins also served as project geologist on landslide stabilization projects, highway rock slope excavation, roadway embankment work, roadway and railroad bridge projects, and tunneling, open shaft excavation and dewatering projects.
During his 17 years with Shannon & Wilson, Higgins was known for providing exceptional customer service that resulted in repeat projects with many public clients, who praised him for his strong commitment to teamwork and communication.
