The replacement project is continuing to receive honors.

Slayden Construction of Stayton and partner Tempe, Arizona-based Sundt Construction were jointly recognized by the Associated General Contractors of America last week for their role in construction of the project estimated to cost $324 million. The award was given out at ‘s annual convention in New Orleans.

The bridge, which opened to traffic in 2016, was chosen by AGC as the recipient of its Construction Risk Partners Build America Award for best new highway and transportation project. The original 1925 structure was replaced with an entirely new bridge, which was built next to the original before being moved into place. The new bridge features an open steel deck arch structure, and meets current seismic regulations. It also has 12-foot-wide sidewalks and a pair of bicycle lanes.
