Staton Cos. crews are demolishing a quarter-block office building in downtown Portland to make way for a new 15-story hotel. The 90-year-old, three-story building at the southwest corner of Southwest 11th Avenue and Alder Street formerly was occupied by the United Way of the Columbia-Willamette; it has consolidated its office space into an adjoining building on the southeast quarter of the block. The new building will be a 220-room hotel designed by . is the design-build contractor and lead developer of the project.
