The city of Gresham is seeking two people to join its seven-person Design Commission.

The group operates in essentially the same fashion as its Portland counterpart. Commissioners review development applications and help ensure the city鈥檚 design standards and guidelines are met. The commission conducts public hearings as needed, particularly for public-private partnerships.

While design professionals are particularly qualified for the two vacant positions, other public citizens are eligible too. Also, candidates are not required to be Gresham residents.

鈥淲e always welcome new members of any gender, age, culture or ethnicity,鈥� Gresham Director of Communications Elizabeth Coffee stated via email. 鈥淭he commission is a dedicated group that is passionate about making Gresham a better place, and this is an exciting opportunity for new members to join and make a difference in their community.鈥�

The city is seeking to fill the two vacancies by September, Coffee said.

Design Commission meetings are held the first and third Wednesdays of each month as needed from 6:30-9 p.m. at Gresham City Hall, 1333 N.W. Eastman Parkway.
