Metro introduced its last month, and planners are still seeking public comments on the plan before it goes before the Metro Council later this month.

The Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) is updated every four years and identifies current and future transportation needs, and investments needed to meet those needs聽along with available funding mechanisms. Public comments are being received through Aug. 13 via email, by telephone or in writing. In addition, the Metro Council will discuss the RTP at its Aug. 2 meeting, at which time interested parties may comment in person.

Additional legislative hearings will take place Nov. 8 and Dec. 6 at the Metro building at 600 N.E. Grand Ave.

Metro’s 2018 RTP focuses on revising policies in a number of core areas, including emerging technology, public transit, safety and freight.

The plan features 842 separate 鈥渃onstrained鈥� projects worth an estimated $14.8 billion across Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington counties. This category is considered by the RTP to be of the highest priority. Further, a project must be in the 鈥渃onstrained鈥� list to receive state or federal funding.

270 projects are lumped in the 鈥渟trategic鈥� category and are longer-term priorities, while 216 additional freight projects are included. A spreadsheet listing every proposed project is available by visiting .
