The Portland Bureau of Development Services is still searching for a volunteer to fill a vacancy on the Historic Landmarks Commission, which meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Commissioners serve four-year terms and perform multiple duties; among them are reviews of development proposals in historic and conservation districts as well as requests to either demolish or relocate certain landmarks and buildings in historic districts.
The BDS is receiving applications for the existing seat through Aug. 31. This member will be an 鈥渁rchitectural historian.鈥 A successful candidate will come from landscape architecture, real estate, construction, community development, urban planning, archeology, the legal field, cultural geography or related disciplines. All candidates must have a demonstrated interest, competence or knowledge of historic preservation.
Applications should be submitted to the Office of Community and Civic Life (OCCL) with a cover letter or a resume describing interest in the position, background and experience.
