A California-based firm that specializes in senior living facilities is quickly expanding its reach in the Portland-metro area.

MorningStar Senior Living recently opened its first – a three-story, 66-unit assisted living and memory care complex – in Beaverton at 14475 S.W. Barrows Road. Now the company has plans to build at least two more similar facilities in the metro area, spokeswoman Lorna Lee told the 91ÊÓÆµ.

Now, MorningStar has requested a for a proposal to build a senior living facility in Northeast Portland. Plans call for a single five-story building with 120 units on property at 3100 and 3150 N.E. Sandy Blvd.

A preliminary site plan produced by shows a long, narrow structure fronted by Sandy Boulevard and stretching nearly 100 yards in length. The building as shown also features a south wing that has a short piece of frontage on Northeast Hassalo Street. Approximately 72 structured parking spaces would be included, according to the MorningStar application.

The pre-application conference has been scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Thursday at 1900 S.W. Fourth Ave., in Room 4A on the fourth floor.
